Code of Conduct
for our Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relationships

“In the six furlong sprint from high school to funeral parlor, the hardest of all jobs is surrounding yourself only with people who give off friendly vibrations.  Anybody else is a detriment to your life and should be avoided at any cost.”

- Jimmy Breslin

I grew up with a quote loving Father, so I found a phrase to encapsulate what I am trying to express. Life’s truths are very simple; we should be brave enough to say them, live them, and not equivacate.

Also, who wants to read more than they have to, eh?

Our college encourages us to define with our clients the expectations of a “veterinary-client-patient-relationship”.  I have resisted creating this form, as I believe it should be unnecessary to define basic human decency.  Nonetheless, there are always a few people who tend to ruin a good thing, and necessitate the creation of many, many, forms, rules, and agreements.  There are never enough rules for such folks.

So, in order to keep this simple, I will outline a few simple rules that we can all follow. They may elicit a few knowing smiles, or maybe an eye-roll or two … oh well…

Here is the important part, the part you have to think about: If any of this is grating, disagreeable, or constricting to you, no problem, no hard feelings.  We have done the hardest job now.  I would encourage you to find another of the many clinics that would suit you better, and I will be genuinely grateful to you for making the right choice for yourself, and the staff of our clinic. If you are fine with these rules, great! I hope we will have a long, and friendly partnership, making sure your furry friend gets the best care we can give.
