The tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth!

Let’s get down to basics….

Plaque and Tartar:

Plaque is the soft, gooey stuff that makes your teeth feel fuzzy when you wake up in the morning. You can remove plaque easily with a toothbrush or a dental wipe or various “scrubby” chews & dental foods. If you don’t remove plaque, over time, the plaque bacteria accumulate minerals from saliva and make a hard substance called tartar (or calculus). This hard tartar is literally a mineral deposit on the teeth, and you cannot brush or wipe it off. The problem with the tartar, is that is also makes for a great rough surface for MORE plaque and tartar to stick to - and this is why the problem seems to sometimes get exponentially worse quickly.

To properly remove the hard tartar, we need to do a dental scale and polish under a general anesthesia.
